Iceland's early settlers cause scholarly debate

Icelandic scholars are still debating who the country's first settlers actually were. Tradition states that Ingólfur and Hjörleifur were the first settlers, but new evidence may show that 870, the date of their arrival, may not be correct.

About the Alehouse

Padraighs Alehouse is a dream your humble tavern keeper, Padrhaig has had for over 7 years .It started as a round robin discussion around one of the many campfires he frequentred in his travels around PENNSIC. Known as a tinkerer , brewer and a light top, people in the different lifestyles would always bemoan there isn't a encampment for THEM! Being a known friend of the alternative lifestyle households (indeed being a member of some) He decided to change that. This came at a time when he was feeling that he had outgrown his current encampment and that it was getting too quiet and "vanilla" family full (campfire out, all pretty much in and asleep by 10pm). It seemd this last PENNSIC that he got caught in a lot of conversations like this and on the mail lists as well. So He decided to DO it! He expanded the concept to include those of the performing arts and sciences and VOILA the Alehouse was born!

The Alehouse is for those who do not walk the well beaten path. It is for those who practice relationships in a different way. For those who are polyamourous or bluefeather, in a dominant-submissive relationship, who love life and practice it fully every day. It is for the bard who needs to practice his craft uninterrupted by the normal concerns of an encampment, the musician who needs a quiet corner where they can concentrate on the piece they are trying to memorize, the fighter who needs some quiet "downtime" to recoup from the days battles. It is a place that if you wear a tin hat it comes off in the evening and you can have a cold drink and talk like when you were a "regular" SCA member! In short it is for all with an emphasis on those who walk the lesser paths!
